Event: Active Seniors – Gentle Yoga with Kathy Carey

Description:

This is a mixed level class. It is perfect for beginnersand experienced students who enjoy a gentle class. This class is a gentle flow of breathing exercises or Pranayama, postures or Asana, meditation and relaxation. There are always modifications offered on postures andmovements so that beginners feel comfortable. If you a rehabing an injuryor have restricted movement modifications will be offered as well. For students with balance issues and for those who find it challenging to get on the floor for exercise, chairs are available. Yoga is a wonderful practice that leaves you feeling gently stretch and toned, balanced and relaxed. .50.

We like to play one on one,have a few games going at once., so bring a board if you have one. Cheat sheets are available and so is an electronic Scrabble Player’s Dictionary. Bring a snack to share if you’d like . Ready … set … spell!

Event: Active Seniors Program – Stretch, Strength and Balance
When: Fri, May 4 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Description: In this exercise class students will use light hand weights andstretch bands for a series of exercises that strengthen the body. Students will also practice exercises that strengthen abdominal muscles, improve balance and gently stretch the body. Exercise helps improve general fitness, raise energy levels, improve bone density; regular exercise helpsimprove your overall energy level to help you have more fun! This classis appropriate for all levels and exercises can be modified for students with tight muscles, joint pain, or other physical limitations. If you have a pair of 2 or 3 pound hand weights please bring them, if not they will be provided. Kathy Carey has been teaching yoga and fitness classes for18 years. She is a certified yoga, fitness instructor and personal trainer. She is also a certified Master Reiki Practitioner. Kathy loves sharing the benefits of yoga and exercise with others. In her spare time Kathyenjoys hiking, snow shoeing, and skiing and spending time with her husband Steve and her sons Mason and Gibson. If there is a delay or closing inthe Onteora School District due to weather class will be canceled. This program is funded, in part, through a grant from the A. Lindsay and OliveB. Event: Screening of Robert by Jessica Vecchione

Jessica Vecchione, the producer of the award winning documentary, Bienvenidos a Fleischmanns – an Immigrant Community in Rural America, has recently finished her second full length epopek@thedailystar.comdocumentary: Robert, Portrait of an Art-er. It will screen at the Pine Hill Community Center, on Main St. in Pine Hill, on May 18th, at 7:30pm.

Robert Johnson is a little known artist and long time resident of Franklin, New York. In the late nineties, Robert began constructing fantastic stone castles and keeps from native stone in his small backyard. He hassince created amazingly unique works at the homes of several Franklin residents. But Robert’s artistic interests and instincts go way beyond his stonework. In the 1980’s Robert began collecting early 20th century household appliances. As a result, Robert’s house and yard are a work of art in which he lives his life.

Jessica Vecchione is a resident of Hamden,NY and runs a video production company called Vecc Videography. She specializes in videos for online marketing of local businesses and institutions.Ms. Vecchione is also the official videographer for the Arc of Delaware County. She also produces Micro News Reports for the Watershed Post and other online news outlets. Ms Vecchione’s video reports on Hurricane Irenewere published on CNN’s iReport site and vetted for broadcast on all CNNoutlets.

The film is an Official Selection of the Buffalo Niagara 2012Film Festival and won Best Short Documentary at the DIY 2012 Film Festival

Event: Active Seniors – Gentle Yoga with Kathy Carey

Description:

This is a mixed level class. It is perfect for beginnersand experienced students who enjoy a gentle class. This class is a gentle flow of breathing exercises or Pranayama, postures or Asana, meditation and relaxation. There are always modifications offered on postures andmovements so that beginners feel comfortable. If you a rehabing an injuryor have restricted movement modifications will be offered as well. For students with balance issues and for those who find it challenging to get on the floor for exercise, chairs are available. Yoga is a wonderful practice that leaves you feeling gently stretch and toned, balanced and relaxed. .50.

We like to play one on one,have a few games going at once., so bring a board if you have one. Cheat sheets are available and so is an electronic Scrabble Player’s Dictionary. Event: Active Seniors Program – Stretch, Strength and Balance
When: Fri, May 25 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Description: In this exercise class students will use light hand weights andstretch bands for a series of exercises that strengthen the body. Students will also practice exercises that strengthen abdominal muscles, improve balance and gently stretch the body. Exercise helps improve general fitness, raise energy levels, improve bone density; regular exercise helpsimprove your overall energy level to help you have more fun! This classis appropriate for all levels and exercises can be modified for students with tight muscles, joint pain, or other physical limitations. If you have a pair of 2 or 3 pound hand weights please bring them, if not they will be provided. Kathy Carey has been teaching yoga and fitness classes for18 years. She is a certified yoga, fitness instructor and personal trainer. She is also a certified Master Reiki Practitioner. Kathy loves sharing the benefits of yoga and exercise with others. In her spare time Kathyenjoys hiking, snow shoeing, and skiing and spending time with her husband Steve and her sons Mason and Gibson. If there is a delay or closing inthe Onteora School District due to weather class will be canceled. This program is funded, in part, through a grant from the A. Lindsay and OliveB.
